Passiflora, known also as the passion flowers or passion vines, is a genus of about 500 species of flowering plants, the namesakes of the family Passifloraceae. They are mostly vines, with some being shrubs, and a few species being herbaceous. For information about the fruit of the passiflora plant, see passionfruit. The monotypic genus Hollrungia seems to be inseparable from Passiflora, but further study is needed.

| Growing Instructions : |
* Plant the seeds in a flat or small peat pots in a sterile seed-sprouting mix. Cover with 1/2 inch of soil and water thoroughly.
* Place in a warm location in bright, filtered light. If your house is cool, cover a heating pad with plastic to protect it from water. Set it on medium and place the tray with the flats or pots on it. Plug it into a GFCI-protected outlet to protect yourself from electrocution.
* Monitor the seeds carefully, misting daily if necessary to keep the soil moist. Fresh seeds should germinate in a week to 10 days. Older seeds may take up to 30 days to sprout.
* Transition to the permanent location when the seedlings are 8 to 12 inches tall. Place the seedlings outside for an hour the first day, then move them back inside. Increase the time outside by one hour daily until the seedlings are outside all day. Then transplant next to a sturdy trellis.
* Water and fertilize regularly with a balanced fertilizer, following the manufacturer's directions. Passiflora are heavy feeders.
